At Tucumcari, New Mexico, midwestern grainger railroad Rock Island interchanged with the Southern Pacific Railroad. Having just swapped power in Tucumcari, this freight is now a Rock Island train, and it departs town behind an anonymous GP35, U33B 287, U28B 276, U33B 294 and U28B 273. This train will head northeast and pass through Dalhart, Texas, a sliver of the Oklahoma panhandle, and Liberal, Kansas on its way to Kansas City on March 26th, 1973.
