Pacing on US 20 |
Description: |
Chicago Central ran their trains at a pretty good clip for a regional that had taken over a hand me down unwanted division of a Class 1. Dont recall the speed here, but I do remember having to hustle to catch these guys. I was on US 20 near Winthrop following this 50 car eastbound. I think it was train 30. |

Why the railroad exists |
Description: |
A Chicago Central train passes grain bins at Jesup(thanks to Dylan for the correction. I had it as Winthrop). The reason for the railroads existence is plain here in Iowa. Every town has one of these, some of them quite large. |

Wooden bridge |
Description: |
Living in an urban environment with a lot of high density rail lines, I was used to seeing steel bridges. Thus, I was intrigued to see as many wood pile trestles as there were on this line. Heres a CC eastbound crossong one of them near Jesup IA. |

Wood pilings |
Description: |
An eastbound CC train rolls over one of the many wood pile bridges seen along US 20. It was a challenging chase, but rewarding. |

This eastbound Chicago Central train with three ex MILW GP 20's rolls through a typical Iowa scene-lots and lots of corn. |
