Tom Beckett General Interesting look at the E 44's before they were completely gone. Too bad CR decided to pull the plug on the electrified freight operation; the situation with Amtrak, along with aging power that had potentially serious environmental issues probably made that decision inevitable. 22 of these units, 4438-4459, were upgraded to 5000 HP, designated E44A. I like the 4444 and 4445, still with their PRR style numbers. 5/2/2021 3:45:32 AM
