In 1984, the Detroit, Toledo & Ironton railroad was purchased by Canadian National and part of their roster was integrated into the Grand Trunk Western railroad like this GP40-2. This loco was built by EMD in October of 1972, nee-DTI 412. The 16 cylinder diesel engine produces 3,000 h.p. and is coupled to a AC generator, driving standard blomberg trucks.
