Mid-Mountain. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-June of 1966. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engine #7137 and four other GP-9's whose numbers were not recorded. All were built by EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7137 was built in 1957. They are pulling a westbound TrucTrain up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. A portion of the PRR's South Altoona Shops is visible in the distance. |
