Originally constructed in 1925 by the Pressed Steel Car Company for the Delaware Lackawanna & Western Railroad as a postal storage car, numbered 2054. Used on passenger trains for the purpose of carrying packages, it was renumbered to 457 when the DL&W became part of the Erie Lackawanna. Moved from passenger service to maintenance duty in 1969, the car was also used by Conrail in this capacity before becoming part of the Steamtown collection in 1987. Today it awaits restoration within the yard while being used for storage. |
