Minnesota Valley (MNVA) at this time in 1985 had trackage rights over the Milwaukee/Soo from the junction at Norwood east through Hopkins and the Lake Street Grade Depression to the Minnesota Commercial Yard (then the Minnesota Transfer).

They stopped running east of Bass Lake Yard in the late 80's or early 90's and just interchanged with the CNW local (from East Minneapolis Yard) at Bass Lake Yard in St. Louis Park. By the time MCTA (Minnesota Central) under Pioneer Rail Corp took over in 1994, the MNVA had stopped running east of Cologne siding to any sort of interchange.

Minnesota Central never operated east of Cologne siding under Pioneer ownership (1994-1999) or later Cascade ownership (8/1999-8/2000). The Minnesota Prairie Line (MPL) upgraded their line in 2002 and began operating their East End Job into Hopkins and St. Louis Park with DDG business coming from Winthrop, MN.

Union Pacific power has been handling the DDG trains east of Hopkins and St. Louis Park to their yard in South St. Paul.

This is because TCWR does not have adequate power to meet its business demands...2007 was a year of growth for this regional railroad!!

The CNW local stopped running into Hopkins from East Minneapolis around 1994 or 1995. The track from Shady Oak Road to Elevator Yard was ripped up in 1995, shortly after the merger into the Union Pacific.

This MNVA train that is pictured here at Hopkins has just interchanged with the before-mentioned CNW local from East Minneapolis Yard and possibly after returning from the Commercial's yard by way of the Depression.
