| SOO SD40 743 westbound at Oak Park, Illinois on an unknown day in December 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. I believe this is a transfer run from the BRC at Clearing Yard (Bedford Park) to Bensenville. In less than a mile this train will climb over the traffic on the left (Eisenhower Expressway, I-90) and turn north, so they are running for the hill. Where you see automobiles in this photo was once the Chicago Aurora & Elgin Railway's right of way. The rails on the left are the CTA, the rails on the right I believe belonged to the B&OCT. |
