| Metrolink train 602 (Los Angeles - Oceanside) makes a stop in Orange, California, two days before Christmas 2010. Orange is a busy station on the Metrolink system, as it serves both the Los Angeles to Oceanside line and the San Bernardino / Riverside to Oceanside line - these routes diverge just north of the former Santa Fe station. Many passengers change from one route to the other here, and trains are frequent (about every 10 minutes) in the mornings and afternoons. Amtraks "Pacific Surfliners" also pass through, but only two trains each way stop here. Each weekday, 33 Metrolink and 24 Amtrak trains pass through, along with a pair of Union Pacific and a pair of BNSF Railway freights most days. That's 57 passenger trains per day! |
