| Chicago and North Western Railway F7 403 southbound at Jefferson Park on the north side of Chicago, Illinois on May 25, 1982, photo by Chuck Zeiler. On the day of this photo (or maybe the day before) the C&NW dispatched its Executive F's to Baraboo, Wisconsin to bring the Circus World Museum's vintage circus train and wagons to Chicago. Upon arrival in downtown Chicago, the wagons will be unloaded and horses will lead them down Michigan Avenue in a Memorial Day parade (I got pictures of that too). As I recall the situation, this train was slowly moving and I was chasing the train, so I stopped and grabbed a photo. The gentleman pictured was a local resident, who inquired what I was doing in his back yard. I explained the special train, and he came out to wave. The trailing units are 2nd 400 (already showing signs of the bow in its frame that ultimately sidelined it) and F7 402, coupled to the business car 400. |
