PRR "Altoona Shops," Pages 32-33, 1996
Here is the centerfold on pages 15 and 16 of a 43-page article by James J.D. Lynch, Jr., entitled "Overview Of The History And Development Of The Pennsylvania Railroad's Altoona Shops." It was published originally in the Autumn 1996 issue of "The Keystone" magazine, pages 32-33. Reproduced here is Mr. Tony Fachet's 1984 oil painting entitled "Just Like They Were Toys." The locomotive depicted here is PRR engine #4408, an I-1SA built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during March of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in September of 1937, and retired in September of 1958 after 35 years of faithful service.
