| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad GP20 915 westbound at Aurora, Illinois on July 10, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The CB&Q acquired a total of 36 GP20's (#'s 900-935, later, BN #'s 2036-2071), taking advantage of EMD's trade-in offer. The Q sent its FT's to EMD and various components were removed from the FT's, remanufactured, and used in the GP20's. Those components included: truck frames, traction motors, traction motor fans, fuel pumps, air compressor, cooling fans, water pumps, injectors, camshaft, auxiliary generator, main generator, alternator, air horn, speed recorder, bell, and batteries. The remanufactured parts carried a factory warranty. |
