The CHW refers to this area bghind the Co-Op as Zirkle. My great grandmother was Gertrude Zirkle and her house was located just behind me and faced S. Main St. The house was eventually owned by JMR and used as a place for student artists to have showings and was called, Zirkle House. The house was torn down in 2007 along with many other old houses to build a Preforming Arts Center which is still under construction behind this parking aeck. In the 1930's my dad told me how he and his brother would watch the CHW steam locomotive as it crossed S.Main St. when staying at "Gerdie's" house. |
