Here is an original photo by Rod Dirkes. Shown here is Long Island Rail Road engine #9820, an E-7S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata for the Pennsylvania Railroad as E-2B number "7485" in 1906, rebuilt in Juniata as E-7S number "9820" in March of 1917, and retired in May of 1939 after 33 years of faithful service. Note the electrified third rail at the far right. The exact date and the location are not recorded. ("TCinthecouv"; #3 of 4) |
