Title:
PRR 2004, BF-16, c. 1964
Description:
AHC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1964. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2004 and #9714. Both were built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton and rated at 1,600 horsepower. #2004 was constructed in July of 1951 and retied in July of 1966, while #9714 was built in January of 1951 and also retired in July of 1966. In this context, they're pulling a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded. Produced and distributed by FUC Productions.
