SRT 4023W pass Pha Sadet memorial |
Description: |
Just 1/2 mile downhill of Pha Sadet station is this memorial at the end of the road and valley. There is a parking area and a short walk takes guests to this viewing patio, while another path crosses the tracks to the memorial on the opposite side. Just out of view to the left is a small shrine for those who wish to pay respects. We were alerted to this light return helper movement by a soft crossing chime which sounded about 45 seconds before anything showed, a great safety consideration and prepatory notice for Guests who linger here. I took the photo a bit prematurely in order to get the memorial in and not blocked out. This rock was left in place when the line was built through here in 1895 and may have been minimally cut to clear train sides. The then King and Queen of Siam [HRH's Rama 5] had a residence near here and inscribed thier names on the rock, thus turning it into a place of notability. |

SRT 4023Pha Sadet memorial S2 |
Description: |
A 'best i can get shot', SRT GE UM12C 4023 drifts downhill into a virtual jungle after just having passed Pha Sadet rock. She is returning light to Kang Khoi after having assisted with a heavy eastbounder. The concrete post reads; 'Limit of Shunt' or, in plain US English; 'Yard Limit'! [The passing siding begins about 1/3 mile upline] |
