Album Info:This 1944 Lima Locomotive Works class S-2 Berkshire was just one of 80 Berkshires built for the Nickel Plate Road (officially the New York, Chicago & St. Louis RR) but it led an interesting and memorable life. It served undistinguished until it came time for its overhaul in May of 1958. It became the last NKP to be overhauled but never fired up by NKP again. After that, it was purchased by F. Nelson Blount on October 16, 1962 for his Steamtown USA in Bellows Falls, VT. It saw service again as part of the High Iron Co excursions in the late 1960's. In 1969, 759 was painted blue and gold for a special train celebrating the 100th anniversary of the driving of the golden spike. This train, dubbed the Golden Spike Centennial Limited, would take 759 as far away as Omaha, NE. Later stored in DLW roundhouse, it suffered freeze damage which DLW paid for and rebuilt only to be sidelined in 1977 due to boiler flue failure. Now it serves as a static display at the Scranton Steamtown and holds the record as the longest loco on display in the museum roundhouse, with only a couple feet clearance. Steamtown has no interest in restoring her to active service due to here size. These are photos taken by Forrest Trittenbach but no location or date was given

Title:  NKP 2-8-4 #759, Nickel Plate Road (New York, Chicago & St. Louis RR)
Description:  Standing proud among other locomotives, NKP 759 can hold its own. With the Union Pacific tender in the background, it makes me think this might have been at the original Steamtown USA at Bellows Falls, VT. Can anyone identify the roundhouse in these photos as being the Bellows Falls location?
