Broken Bridge |
Description: |
This photo was taken on 9-4-04 of the CN/IC bridge south of Benton, Illinois (I know I'm not in SEMO anymore!) where back in July a loaded UP coal train running over CN/IC track derailed onto Interstate 57. There were no deaths or serious injuries (except the road and bridge which both took beatings, neither one have been patched up yet). |

This is the view backwards out of the cab from the engineer's seat. It's hard to believe that the NS runs some of their locomotives long hood forward, this is a non zoomed in shot and you can plainly see that visibility is very poor. |

UP 9765 Cab Side |

This was a rag tag looking locomotive. It was ex-CNW with the CNW numbers and ball and bar logo marked out and the new UP logos added. If that was not enough, it had a NS black cab sunshade, a primer air conditioner, and a UP colored access door. |

This is a shot of the locomotive's builders plate, which is more like it's birth certificate. Listed on here is the builder's date, serial number, weight, horsepower, and it was Made in the U.S.A.! These were some of the last locomotives to have a metal builder's plate, before switching to a decal tag. This is ex-CNW 8661. |
