Album Info:Locals on the KCS are called "dodgers" because they dodge around the road trains. This is a selection of locals on the KCS, primarily Watts OK based L 102, which serves my hometown of Siloam Springs Ark, but others as well.

Picking up a stray
Title:  Picking up a stray
Description:  The car back on the house track had been set off for some reason, probably a defect that needed repair. The dodger was to pick it up, but whatever reason it was there apparently kept it there, as they didnt take it in the end. View is from the Ark 12 overpass.

McKee Foods
Title:  McKee Foods

One of their plants is here in Gentry, and a KCS customer for inbound freight, which consists of vegetable oil and flour. The dodger switches the plant, a full set of Belles doing the honors.

Dragging the hill
Title:  Dragging the hill
Description:  The profile on the Heavener Sub has a lot of up and down, though most of it is unremarked-Rich Mountain farther south gets all the attention, but there are some good pulls here, too. Such is the case here at Davidson Rd north of Siloam, where the tracks are coming out of long dip. The pull is taxing the three four motor units as they lug 66 cars south to Watts.

Unusual visitor
Title:  Unusual visitor
Description:  I was over at OReillys in Gentry getting a headlight, when I saw the dodger power roll through town, then go back up to McKee Foods-thats Little Debbie-to switch the plant. I got done at OReilly, and went up to see what was going on, and discovered this unit, one whose rebuild into a GP 22ECO was financed by Louisiana for service there. This is only the second of these I have seen here, the other on a lite power move last year. So it was quite a surprise. Im sure the crew is appreciating the flared long hood going forward!!

Pushing back, and a former customer
Title:  Pushing back, and a former customer
Description:  The dodger power pushes covered hoppers full of plastic pellets into the Pipelife plant, past the now cut off siding for Allens Canning, the one time packers of Popeye spinach, which was once canned here, along with a variety of other vegetables. The brand survives, though Allens is no longer a going concern. The warehouse here is now owned by Pro Pak, and truck served.
